Finding the Perfect Track: Leveraging Our Exclusive Catalog for Sunwing’s Campaign

The Challenge
Sunwing Canada, North America’s largest vertically integrated travel company, contacted Music For Productions once again to help with music for their new ad campaign “Sunwing Vacation Better 2.0”.
When Sunwing contacted us we had one month to work with them. First, like several times before, they hired us for our copyrights clearance services. We had one month to negotiate for them the sync rights of a “popular”song to place in the new Sunwing ad campaign. After learning about the direction of the main spot they suggested to us several songs. One was a Prince song from his old catalog. As expected, when MFP contacted the label to inquire about the sync fees etc. they right away told us 1- A prince song is very difficult to license 2- The time limit of one month was too short to start negotiating with Prince’s family estate. The second popular song suggested was good but the price was way too expensive.
The Solution
MFP went to work and looked in their own catalog to try to find the perfect song for them at an affordable price.
The creative was originally based on the tagline “Let’s Go”. But MFP suggested for a sunny destination the theme “Let Go” instead. After they agreed we found in our catalog the perfect song!. The title is ‘Let Go” and the composers are Pete Masiti – John Andrew Barrow. The song is from the Dark Horse (Vocal) label on the “Premium Playlist” album from the USA Atomica Music catalog. An excellent catalog that we represent exclusively in Canada. The catchy hook of “Let Go” was just perfect for their 15 seconds spots. The only work left was to make sure that the Sunwing jingle at the end of the spot was integrated properly with the song. It was easy work for our composer/arranger Chris Horvath. Why was it so easy for Chris? Because Chris actually wrote, played and produced the Sunwing jingle. It was a great pleasure to work with Sunwing and Chris once again.

The Result
Within a tight one-month timeline, Music For Productions successfully delivered a fully cleared, on-budget synchronization that aligned perfectly with Sunwing’s refreshed “Vacation Better 2.0” campaign. By pivoting creatively from “Let’s Go” to “Let Go,” we not only secured a cost-effective alternative to high-profile commercial tracks, but also provided a song that enhanced the emotional tone of the spot and strengthened the brand message. The selected track, “Let Go,” integrated seamlessly with the existing Sunwing jingle—expertly adapted by our composer—resulting in a cohesive, memorable 15-second campaign across national TV, radio, and digital platforms. The outcome was a smooth launch, significant cost savings, and a strong creative impact, once again demonstrating the value of strategic music supervision and exclusive catalog access.
